It’s important to know the proper steps to take immediately after being involved in an automobile accident. Certain actions will make it easier for your automobile insurance agent to process and approve your claim. The sooner your agent gets the claim through, the sooner you can get your car fixed or replaced.
Make sure everyone is physically unharmed. If there are any injuries, call an ambulance immediately. Back or neck pain; bleeding; heavy contusions, especially to the head; and heart complaints, are particularly in need of quick medical attention. Do not attempt to move anyone who complains of neck pain, back pain or lack of physical sensation anywhere on the body.
Although it may seem natural to offer an apology after an accident, it may be considered an admission of guilt. Never apologize and do not admit guilt. The police are better able to determine who is at fault for the accident. Simply report the facts as you remember them.
